STEM – Thursday and Friday

Oops – didn’t realize that this didn’t post, yet.  It got stuck in cyber-space as a “draft.”  Apologies for the late posting!

On Thursday, students listened to “Regards to the Man on the Moon” by Ezra Keats, and then they calculated the distance between the earth and the moon using a scale model.  They also got to spend time in our StarLab learning more about the stars and planets!

On Friday, students read “The Three Little Pigs” and then built houses made of different materials so they could test and see which materials were strongest.  Our young engineers followed that “assignment” with a bridge-building job that connected to “The Three Billy Goats Gruff.”  Afterwards, they enjoyed “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” and did a crime-scene investgation activity involving fingerprints!

What a fun week we had with Storybook STEM and our students learning as scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathemeticians!  HUGE THANKS to Mrs. Martine, Mrs. Rehm, and Mrs. Dalrymple for planning and teaching this year’s Summer STEM Enrichment!!!
